Erin Zurbuchen – Bass

Erin Roberts Zurbuchen grew up near Chicago, Illinois, USA and began playing bass at the age of 16. She received her Bachelor of Music in String Instrument Performance with Teaching Certification from University of Michigan and her Masters in String Bass Performance from Michigan State University. In the United States, Erin has performed as a classical and jazz bassist in Michigan and the Washington DC area. For over 20 years, she was a member of the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra, serving as assistant principal bass. As a jazz bassist, Erin performed with numerous groups in the Detroit, Michigan area. She toured nationally in the United States with the swing band Five Guys Named Moe and the Sisters in Jazz Collegiate Combo. She has taught primary school music, school orchestra, and string bass for over 25 years in Michigan, Washington DC, and Zurich.
Elena Pavlova – Saxophone

From the very early childhood when she started learning to play piano at the age of three and through teenage years, ever since she started music college at 13, Elena has enjoyed a rich experience of working in different bands and orchestras. First, a piano prodigy winning various music scholarships, grants and awards, then – a very young accompanist and soloist, she spent her late teens mastering her skills of piano and later, saxophone, and working in four different big bands, including jazz band and retro jazz band, and a music school.
The following years of working in Seoul, South Korea and then Kiev, Ukraine, followed by a European tour enriched Elena’s music experiences and influenced her worldview.
They underwent even further transformation during her 1.5 years spent in Malaysia (magic show Dreamz), while a year of show biz in France (in Royal Palace, one of top cabarets) made Elena realize it was time to move on.
Later, at the North Jazz Fest in the Netherlands after a few days of jam sessions she decided to discontinue contract work and go on with her own gigs and performances.
Sarah Singer – Vocals

Growing up in Switzerland, Chur (GR), Sarah pursued her passion for painting portraits and bodies, singing on the harp, piano, drums, or guitar, as well as dancing jazz and street dance. After completing the preparatory design course at School of Design, the specialized class in graphic design, and earning a Bachelor of Arts in Art Education at Zurich University of the Arts, Sarah instructed arts and crafts, as well as music, at the primary and secondary school levels. Through her guest performances with the “New Hot Club of Zurich, Sarah had the opportunity to perform publicly in Zurich and gain valuable experience, later joining the band “The Pavilion Dance Orchestra” as a singer. In 2024, She formed the band «Sewing Box» together with a group of talented musicians, focusing on swing, chanson, bossa, and love notes. Additionally, Sarah composes melodies and writes Swiss-German lyrics, while also creating portrait sketches and designing concert posters.
Marc Ilunga – Piano

Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, he initially showed little interest in music beyond casual listening. Mathematics and science were his first passions. During his early teens, a spark of interest in music was accidentally ignited and further fueled by music theory. It was a delightful discovery that there’s math behind the music! Despite no formal training, he developed his musical skills through self-learning, passion for theory, church performances, mentorship, and diverse musical influences. His early years in the church allowed him to gain experience as a keyboard player, arranger, and band leader. His late teens marked a pivotal discovery of blues and jazz, though he explored multiple genres, including gospel, Latin, reggae, and other African musical genres. He has picked up a few instruments, such as drums and bass; nevertheless, piano and keyboards remain his preferred way of exploring music and harmony. He is currently learning big band arranging. Furthermore, he also dances Lindy hop, another means of exploring his passion for jazz. He dedicates his professional life to cryptography and makes music a hobby in various configurations, combining his love for mathematics, patterns, and beauty.
Fran Kostelac – Guitar

Spent his youth in Zagreb, Croatia, playing heavy metal and Baroque music. before discovering gypsy jazz. With a deep love for energetic rhythms and unusual melodies inspired by Django Reinhardt and raw energy of Balkan music, Fran brings passion to every performance.
Ueli Spoerri – Drums

Grew up in Bäretswil, ZH. After the “Sturm und Drang” phase with loud rock bands, now treading softly. Mallets and swing brushes have replaced the heavy drumsticks. His love for jazz – discovered during a long stay in New York – has been rediscovered. His role models are Philly Joe Jones, Max Roach, and the many other cats from the swingin’ 50s.
Corsin Battaglia – Guitar
Born into a musical family CB started playing violin, followed by the clarinet, then discovered his love for the guitar, and can be found sometimes also in upright bass. Moving back from the US, he has been active in the Zurich music scene since 2015 initiating the Django Reinhardt inspired New Hot Club of Zurch, the Pavilion Dance Orchestra playing the music of Benny Goodman, Charlie Christian, and Billie Holiday, and the hardbop hammond trio the Organ Messengers.
